Our Mutual Friend and the Colorado Grain Chain Support Local Agriculture

Earth to Beer Hazy IPA from Our Mutual Friend
By Lisa Boldt
We are excited to announce a new partnership in the world of Colorado Craft Beer! Denver-based brewery, Our Mutual Friend (OMF), is teaming up with the Colorado Grain Chain to create a Colorado grown ingredient beer for Earth Day! There will be a fun release day event leading up to Earth Day at the brewery’s taproom on Saturday, April 20th. A portion of the draft sales from this beer will be donated to the Colorado Grain Chain!

The beer, named Earth to Beer, is a Hazy IPA (7.4% ABV) brewed with Pevec (pilsner-style malt) from Troubadour Maltings, CMC Pils from the Colorado Malting Company, chip malt from Root Shoot Malting, and a small amount of flaked oats and wheat. The hops are also locally sourced, with Vista and Cashmere hops from the Colorado Hop Company and Comet hops from Billy Goat Hop Farm. Jan Chodkowski, Head Brewer at OMF, was thrilled with the outcome of this IPA. He loves the beer overall, especially its refreshing springtime drinkability and flavor notes of tropical fruit, tangerine, and melon.

Earth to Beer, the overall event organization, is a national campaign that challenges brewers to craft a beer that’s better for the planet, pushing the limits of each brewery’s environmental stewardship and sustainable business practices. Participating breweries support sustainable, environmentally-friendly producers and suppliers and develop lasting partnerships with local nonprofits. Donations to these nonprofit partners help continue their work in the environmental and agricultural worlds they strive to improve.

Please join us at Our Mutual Friend on April 20th for the special release of Earth to Beer and raise a glass to Colorado grown grains!
