2026 Water Year report highlights record-setting heat, dry conditions across Colorado

Colorado experienced its warmest water year on record by a substantial margin in 2026, according to a new report by Colorado State University researchers. The warm conditions, measured from Oct. 1, 2025, to Sept. 30, 2026, hit the entire state and greatly limited mountain snowpack that supports agriculture, industry and household water use.
